BACKGROUND |
IFN gamma, also known as IFNG, is a secreted protein that belongs to the type II interferon family. The IFNG monomer consists of a core of six α-helices and an extended unfolded sequence in the C-terminal region. Interferon (IFN)-γ is the uppermost cytokine implicated in anti-tumor immunity. With its cytostatic, pro-apoptotic and immune-provoking effects, IFN-γ plays a central role in the recognition and elimination of transformed cells. Interferon-γ (IFN-γ) also plays a key role in activation of cellular immunity and subsequently, stimulation of antitumor immune-response.IFN-γ is considered potentially useful for adjuvant immunotherapy for different types of cancer.IFN-γ is considered potentially useful for adjuvant immunotherapy for different types of cancer. The importance of IFN-γ in the immune system stems in part from its ability to inhibit viral replication directly, and most importantly from its immunostimulatory and immunomodulatory effects. |

Active Recombinant Human IFN-gamma Protein was determined by SDS-PAGE with Coomassie Blue, showing a band at 18-30 kDa. | Determined by its ability to induce STAT1/STAT2 activation in Human COLO 205 ISRE LUC reporter cells. The ED50 for this effect is 1-5 ng/mL. |
